Catalogue Note
The drawing is reproduced on page 175 of volume one of Le Morte Darthur (Dent, 1893-94). The associated chapter is 'Of a Battle Done by Sir Gawaine against a Saracen, which after was yielden and became Christian'.
The original space for the chapter number has been inked in. There were some minor changes made for publication such as the removal of the left nipple.
