Catalogue Note

An unpublished letter to the poet Thomas Campbell, written to Byron as a member of a committee focusing on the role of the newly built Theatre Royal on Drury Lane as a centre for national life. Byron was responding to a letter of 26 November, in which Campbell promoted the talents of Mrs Frances Allsop, the daughter of Dorothy Jordan (Life and Letters of Thomas Campbell, ed. Beattie (1855), vol. 2, pp.62-63)
