Boston: Little, Brown and Company, 1965, first edition,  original olive cloth, top edge maroon, dust-jacket, dust-jacket price clipped and with a few very small tears; with an advance proof copy of the first British edition; iii) The Ebony Tower. Boston: Little, Brown and Company, 1974, first edition, ONE OF 200 COPIES SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR on a special tipped in grey leaf, original two tone cloth with facsimile of author’s signature in gilt on upper board, dust-jacket; with a copy of the standard first edition, signed by the author; together with seven others, all signed; mostly 8vo (13)

Ray A. Roberts' bibliographical checklist of Fowles' works was published in the American Book Collector in 1980 (vol. 1 no. 5). These books correspond to A1(a), A1(c), A4(a), A10(b) (this lot includes a copy of both the limited and standard edition), A13(b), A12(a) and A19(a). The advance copy of the Cape British edition of The Magus is not recorded by Roberts while the four remaining works - MantissaA MagottThe Enigma and Behind the Magus - were published after 1980, and as such are not listed.
