Catalogue Note

'Michael Field' was the pseudonym of Katherine Bradley and Emma Cooper.

Of the first work Oscar Wilde wrote: "it is extremely dramatic, and its method is admirably suited to express those swift touches of nature and sudden flashes of thought which are Michael Field's distinguishing qualities" (Woman's World, 1888, p.181)
