the first formed as the gilt figure of Atlas supporting a grey agate globe, his feet on an agate hemisphere the matrix engraved with the arms of Richard Monckton Milnes, 1st Baron Houghton, circa 1863, 7cm., 3in., in fitted leather case marked for Aris, casemakers; a large stained red agate example with blank matrix, 11.5cm., 4 1/2 in.; a small gold-mounted white and pink banded agate desk seal of mushroom form, the white chalcedony matrix with the crest of Crewe below a Baron's coronet, 5.3cm., 2in.; and a simulated horn desk seal modelled as a bulfinch perched on a bough, silver collar, the bloodstone matrix engraved with monogram HC below the crest of Crewe, 9.5cm., 3 3/4 in.
