engraved with the Houghton crest, some also below a baron’s coronet and with the Houghton motto, comprising: 52 table forks, 58 table spoons, 25 dessert forks, 25 dessert spoons, 8 basting spoons, 3 sauce ladles, 1 fish slice, 1 sugar sifter, and 7 Old English table spoons with bright-cut and engraved initials, and a pair of sugar-tongs, various makers, London, and Chester, 1781-1788
Condition
The majority bottom marked, some marks lightly struck or rubbed, very nice pattern, overall good condition, comprising as follows:
- 11 dessert spoons and 12 table spoons with the Houghton crest, motto and coronet, Crossley & Smith, London, 1808
- 31 table forks, 1 basting spoon, 1 silver-gilt spoon, 11 dessert spoons, 12 dessert forks, 22 table spoons, with the Houghton crest, the majority Thomas Northcote, London, 1781, the rest with illegible marks,
- the rest with the Houghton crest: 7 basting spoons, 1 fish slice, 24 table spoons, 21 table forks, 3 dessert spoons, 3 sauce ladles, Thomas Northcote, London, 1781, 1 sugar sifter, Prince & Cattles, York, 1805, 13 dessert forks, William Eaton, London, 1845
