Description

on three shell feet, gadroon rim, leaf-capped scroll handle, each engraved with a coat-of-arms within a rococo cartouche, and six Onslow pattern silver sauce ladles, maker's mark London, 1764, with the crest of Crewe below a baron's coronet

Condition

Sauce boats: clear hallmarks overall, some dents commensurate with age and use Ladles: Clear halmarks, one only with partly legible maker's mark. two repaired.

Catalogue Note

The arms are those of Crewe quartering Offley and another for John Crewe (1742-1829) of Crewe Hall, Cheshire, MP for Stafford, 1765-1768, and for Cheshire, 1768-1802, who in 1806 was created Baron Crewe of Crewe, Cheshire.
