  • SILVER
  • 12.5cm., 5in. high and 10cm., 4 in. high
of baluster shape, leaf-capped scroll handle, engraved with the arms of Milnes implaing another and a George IV silver mustard pot and cover, maker's mark SW, London, 1789, with swirling bands, engraved with the Houghton crest and a baron's coronet

Condition

mug: handle pushed in, neck bruised around and some minor dents overall. crisp engraving, clear marks. mustard pot: overall good condition apart from minor dents and surface scratches, cover slightly ill fitting at its rim is bent.

Catalogue Note

The arms are those of Milnes impaling Slater for Robert Milnes, J.P., who married as his first wife in 1757 Joice (d. 1764), second daughter of Adam Slater of Chesterfield. Mr Milnes died in 1771.
