Description

the plain rectangular frame with cast floral and foliate details at the angles, the mantle embossed with scrolls and two cherubs above an elaborate engraved ribbon-tied leaf cartouche and coat-of-arms, wood back and easel support

Condition

The marks are clear to the four sections. There has been an erasure to the cartouche flanked by the two putto. Both putto have had their heads removed and re-soldered; visible to reverse. There are also small losses to the scrollwork at this point. The engraved decoration and armorial is in crisp condition. The general surface with a few various small dents and nicks, there is also a small hole to the upper section of the rim junction. The mirror needs replacement for usage. The wooden reverse is damaged and currently strengthened with tape. The general condition is consummate with the age of the piece.
