A George III style mahogany and marquetry breakfront bookcase second half 19th century

the beaded and fluted cavetto cornice above two brass-grille doors, flanked by lower conforming cupboards, the moulded base with a fluted frieze and pull out baize lined writing slide and three short and four long banded drawers, the upper drawer inlaid with crossed palm boughs and flanked by brass-grille doors with patera inlaid spandrels, on four square tapering front legs inlaid with pendent husks

West Horsley Place, Surrey, Inventory, 1938, Vol. 1, p.80, in the Ante Room; An 8ft mahogany and banded Sheraton breakfront Bookcase slightly inlaid with vases and leaves, fluted cornice, 4 brass trellis doors enclosing adjustable shelves, 2 do. below & 7 drawers, chased ormolu handles, cloth lines slide and square tapered feet  £300.  

Losses to moulding and veneers. Formerly glazed upper section. Possibly incorporating 18th century elements. Writing surface with traces of mould. Feet with detached mouldings.
