Catalogue Note
All three groups are illustrated by Emile Bourgeois, Manufacture de Sevres: Biscuits du XVIII Siecle, 1914, p.14, nos.166, 570 and '568' (a mistake for 588).
The originals of these groups were among those ordered by the King in 1772 for a Surtout de Bacchus, to designs by Jean-Hugues Taraval. They seem to have been revived in 1913 for a time, but are rarely found from either period.
