- both pen and ink with pencil, together with 7 letters of correspondence between Hanslip Fletcher and Lord Crewe between 1934-42
- one 43 by 61cm., 17 by 24in; the other 45 by 67cm., 17¾ by 26¾in.

Both works commissioned from the artist by Robert Crewe-Milnes, 1st Marquess of Crewe (1858-1945)
Condition
Both sheets appear generally sound. Diagonal surface abrasion in upper right corner of 'Crewe House' picture; some scuff marks to both that appear to be the workings of the artist in some cases. Both framed under glass with a cream mount; unexamined out of glass.

Catalogue Note
Hanslip Fletcher was a watercolour painter and etcher of architectural subjects, chiefly London scenes. He produced a series of 40 engravings of London in his book, Changing London (1923) that was later circulated in The Sunday Times and in 1947 published Thirty-Eight Drawings of Historic Buildings Damaged During the Bombing of London. Today, Crewe House in Curzon Street, Mayfair, is the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia.
