Catalogue Note
Son of Jacob Hans Busk of Leeds, who was grandson of Nicholas du Busc, Marquis de Fresney, ambassador from France to Sweden, who settled in England in 1712, and Rachel Wordsworth of Leeds, of the Wordsworths of Swathe. He married Martha, daughter and heiress of Richard Rodes of Long Houghton Hall and Bullhouse Hall, Penistone. He had two daughters, Rachel and Marianne. Rachel Busk married Richard Slater Milnes of Fryston Hall (see lots 44 and 190).
