the high back and sides with buttoned upholstery on square tapering mahogany feet ending in brass cappings and castors, the underside stencilled Cowtan & Sons, London, 309 Oxford St.

Catalogue Note

Cowtan & Sons was a firm of decorators, upholsterers and cabinet-makers with premises in Belgrave Square and latterly Oxford Street, London. Established in 1790, they were renowned for their wallpapers which they supplied to many of Britain's grandest houses during the 19th and 20th century.
