Catalogue Note

This model, known as "Le Réconciliation" was designed by the bronziers Denière and Mathelin as the counterpart "La Brouille" (The Quarrel). When together, the unique pair represent two sides of a romantic relationship. An almost identical example of this model by Galle and now in the Palazzo Pitti is illustrated Hans Ottomeyer and Peter Pröschel, Vergoldete Bronzen, Munich, vol. 1, 1986, fig. 5.13.11. A clock of this model signed Galle Rue Vivienne a Paris, is in Schloss Fasanerie, Fulda.
