Condition

In poor condition with the usual minor hairline scratches and minute nicks to veneers and carcass consistent with age and use. Tarnishing to gilt-bronze in places also consistent with age and atmospheric conditions through the years. Bronze molded boarder with traces of lacquer. Extensive pitting and loss of gilding. No key present.

Catalogue Note

This small table, in full-fledged Transitional style, is based on the work by Jean-Francois Oeben (1721-1763). A mechanical table of a similar form is in the Linsky Bequest at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York and another at the Gulbenkian Museum, Lisbon.
