Condition

Illustration is accurate. Highly attractive pair of objects composed of a pair of gilt-bronze rhinoceros cast in Germany in the late 17/early 18th probably as paperweight. The bronze are finely cast and are in good condition with expected wear to the gilding. They have been mounted on a Louis XVI base circa 1780. The base is in fair condition but there is an angle damaged (3 missing small elements forming the angle, 2 in amaranth and one in tulipwood). It will need a simple restoration. Otherwise, minor scratches to the bases. In conclusion, the composition is very desirable. Strongly recommended.

Catalogue Note
