Not seen out of its frame. Overall good condition. Sold in a gilt frame.

Notre dessin est une copie d'après le tableau Portrait de Henri-Louis Lekain dans le rôle de Gengis-Khan (personnage de la tragédie de Voltaire L'Orphelin de la Chine) réalisé par Simon-Bernard Lenoir en 1769 (CARP.1924, musée Carnavalet, Paris). Lenoir a réalisé deux autres versions reprenant exactement la même composition mais datées de 1777 actuellement dans la collection de la Comédie Française, Paris (numéros d'inventaire 0002 et 0209).

Our drawing is a copy after the painting Portrait of Henri-Louis Lekain, dans le rôle de Gengis-Khan (character from the tragedy by Voltaire L'Orphelin de la Chine) by Simon-Bernard Lenoir in 1769 (CARP1924, musée Carnavalet, Paris). Lenoir has painted two other versions of the portrait dated 1777, currently in the collection of the Comédie Française, Paris (inventory 0002 and 0209).
