Condition

Good condition overall with some surface dirt and a few fine chips and firing cracks at several places, Her proper left hand holding the cup appears to have been reattached with a joint visible.

Catalogue Note

Ce sujet fait la synthèse de différents modèles réalisés par Clodion et son brillant élève, Joseph-Charles Marin. Ainsi, le mouvement gracieux de la jeune nymphe interrompue dans sa course peut être rapproché de la Bacchante courant de Clodion (Paris, musée Cognacq-Jay). Elle rappelle également une autre terre cuite par Clodion représentant une nymphe en pleine course, dressant devant elle une coupe, et qui fut exposée à Paris, par la galerie Eric Coatalem, lors de la Biennale des Antiquaires en 2002.
