Condition
Very good condition overall with some minor surface dirt.
The Boy's finger tips of his proper left hand appear to be slightly restored, a few minor lacks to the tips of his wings.
The Girl: a very fine fissure to the tip of the bird's right wing.

Catalogue Note
Une paire de statuettes identiques a été vendue à Paris, le 3 décembre 2003 (lot 183) dont l'une était signée d'Etienne-Maurice Falconet et datée 1753. Ces deux sujets peuvent être rapprochés de la série d'enfants réalisée par Falconet pour la Manufacture de Sèvres, dont il prit la direction de l'atelier de sculptures à partir de 1757.
