Catalogue Note

The signature to this watch reads 'Jeremia East Fecit' and is more than likely that of Edward East's brother Jeremy - who sometimes signed himself 'Jeremie East Fecit' - and not Jeremiah East who was working later and is recorded as having served his apprenticeship between 1653 and 1661. Jeremy East was admitted to the Clockmakers' Company in 1640.
