Catalogue Note

In 2013 it was reported that Simon's donation allowed the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society to purchase a boat from the Japanese government. Per a January 4, 2015 article, the boat was renamed in honor of its donor and has been the anti-whaling activists, some of whom have appeared on the Animal Planet reality show Whale Wars. "In recent years, as Sea Shepherd has clashed with Japanese whalers, one of the group's ships was rammed and sunk. In other hostile encounters, activists sneaked on board whaling ships to sabotage them and were taken hostage."
