Catalogue Note

The March 16, 1973 Beverly Connection Comic included an article about Sam Simon, mentioning that Simon produced cartoons as a part of each weekly issue. Simon was quoted as saying that he started cartooning when he was two or three years old. "The hardest thing about doing the cartoons is coming up with an original idea. I used to confine the subject to what was going on at school, but last semester I started coming up with other things...that is why my cartoons are liked because they represent the feelings of the students. I try to stay away from in jokes." Simon is hoping to become a professional cartoonist. "I would like to do political cartoons. Right now I am getting together a portfolio." Although he has been censored a few times, Simon still doesn't let this stop him from drawing what he feels. "I can't remember anything coming up that I wanted to do that I didn't draw." While he is well know for his cartoons, Simon is also interested in sports.
