Overall in very good condition. The wood used to execute this sideboard display nice figuring and a nice variation of color. The exterior of the case and surface of the top with some minor surface scratches, edge abrasions, minor discoloration and minor surface dirt consistent with gentle use. The original pandanus cloth is in very good condition with minor surface dirt to the proper right upper side of the proper right panel and a minor area of wear and loss to the upper proper left side of the proper left panel. The interior of the proper right compartment is fitted with two removable shelves and the proper left compartment is fitted with four drawers. The condition of the sideboard reflects the care of the previous owner. A beautiful piece with great provenance. The original owners of this work met Nakashima in 1955 when they had a piece of furniture to repair. They enjoyed art and had an eye for what was modern. Mr. Nakashima explained that he did not repair but he did create furniture. When they saw his beautiful, organic pieces they were hooked. What began with a purchase of a headboard, developed into a close personal relationship and the acquisition of a number of pieces over the years. This piece represents a portion of the works acquired for the dining room. ---
