Description

- 'Amsterdam III'
chromogenic print, flush-mounted, signed, titled, dated, and editioned 2/8 in pencil on the reverse, 2004, printed in 2005
Condition
This chromogenic print is in generally very good condition. The colors are vibrant and saturated, without apparent fading. The print is flush-mounted to thin board. The margin corners are bumped. In raking light, the following are visible: two crescent-shaped handling creases that do not break the emulsion near the right edge of the print and in the margin; a long irregular-shaped scratch that also does not break the emulsion along the lower edge; and, in isolated areas, minor soiling or surface wear.

Catalogue Note
Mona Kuhn has said of this image, with its colorful background and mysterious observer on the side, that it embodies the ‘classic theme of leisure and bathers as in Cezanne and Renoir and many others. Same visual vocabulary, but brought into the photo medium.’
