the cylindrical vessel of contorted form, the gnarled exterior accentuated with burled nodes and ridges of varying sizes and covered with undulating rings of burrows, the surface patinated to a warm caramel-brown colour, fitted with a hardwood rim and base with four short feet

Condition
The overall condition is very good, except for some infillings to the expected age cracks, including a long vertical one to the reverse. There are also some minor flakes, surface scratches, and stains. The actual colour is very similar to the catalogue illustration.
