Catalogue Note

Set in stone for eternity, this beautiful sea creature offers a glimpse into the surreal underwater prairie-scenes of prehistoric life. Captured in its final repose on the seabed, the water lily’s feathery crown rises like a floral spray above a long and delicate stem anchored to the ocean floor. This fossil impeccably preserves the sea creature in its full glory.

The form of this sea lily is particularly spectacular. The beauty of the present fossil is further enhanced by a layer of pyrite, granting it a slight metallic lustre that glows against the dark background of the natural stone panel.
