Condition

This work is in very good and sound condition overall. There is evidence of light wear and handling to all three elements, including areas where the patina has rubbed off and become uneven. There are scattered, light surface abrasions to all elements and black spot accretions on one side and edge of the smallest element. Some dust has settled into the membranous crevices of the two similar elements and there is evidence of pitting on both of these elements. There is a gentle rattling when the two smaller elements are handled, which could possibly be inherent to the artist's working method.

Catalogue Note

“There has always been a sexual suggestiveness in my work. Sometimes I am totally concerned with female shapes – clusters of breasts like clouds – but often I merge that imagery – phallic breasts, male and female, active and passive” Louise Bourgeois
