Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the white impastoed spots are warmer and the overall tonality is slightly more saturated in the original. Condition: This work is in very good condition. Very close inspection reveals a few tiny specks of loss to some of the impasto peaks towards the lower edge, most of which are likely to be inherent to the artist's working process. There are some unobtrusive dust fibres and extremely light burnishing to the white spots of heavy pigment towards the centre of the composition. Further close inspection reveals a short and unobtrusive abrasion towards the lower left corner. No restoration is apparent when examined under ultraviolet light.
