  • each panel 211cm. high, 54.5cm. wide; 6ft. 11in., 1ft. 9¾in.
decorated overall in gilt and iron-red against a black lacquer ground, the front face depicting figures in a landscape with elaborate pavilions and trees, all encircled by a bamboo border, framed with ferocious dragons writhing amongst cloud scrolls, the reverse gilt-painted with birds amongst floral branches

Condition

A highly decorative piece. Shrinkage cracks to each panel, some of which have been filled/restored. Losses to gilt and painted lacquer surface consistent with age. Evidence of restoration and retouching.
