Description

  • 90cm. high, 147cm. wide, 60cm. deep; 2ft. 11½in., 4ft 9¾in., 1ft. 11½in.
with three frieze drawers, above two cupboard doors enclosing four adjustable shelves, with later Bramah locks, serial number 2747

Condition

In reasonable restored condition. The shadow of the former handles are visible on the drawer fronts. The top has warped slightly and has two minor shrinkage cracks to the right side. Old marks and scratches throughout consistent with age and use. Some of the scratches to the top are quite deep. The cupboard doors with restorations to the shrinkage which has occurred around the central mahogany veneered panels. On later bun feet.

According to the Bramah archive, the registration for serial number 2747 is dated January 1878 and was commissioned by Lord Alwyne Frederick Compton, DSO, DL (1855–1911), the third son of Admiral William Compton, 4th Marquess of Northampton.
