each with a serpentine open back with an interlaced pierced splat above downscrolled arms and panelled rush seat on five cabriole front legs terminating in scrolled feet, the frame carved with rocaille and scrolls
Condition
In overall good conserved condition. Joints sound and sturdy. Evidence of old very minor worm which appears to be no longer active. The rear legs have all been reblocked. The front left leg on one is possibly a later replacement. The splat is secured to the top-rail with iron strengtheners, as is the top-rail and side-rails. There are some losses due to insect worm and a small loss to the right side of the top rail as visible from the catalogue photograph. The other has metal strengthens to attach the top-rail to the side-rails. There is a gap where the left hand side of the base of the back joins the splat but this can easily be filled. There is small area of loses to the right edge of the right arm due to worm damage which appears to be no longer active. Both have minor marks, chips, scratches commensurate with age and use. Slight variation in colour.
