Description

  • porcelain
of cylindrical form, painted with rectangular cartouches enclosing butterflies and birds amongst flowering branches, the shoulder with shaped floral cartouches, the neck with stylised shou characters above a lotus scroll

Condition

The rim has a shallow chip (4cm wide) with an associated horizontal crack. There are other short vertical hairlines around this area (approx. 1cm). General fritting as characteristic of the period. The looting line and base fired to a buff-brown colour with some pinprick holes. The base with a 2.5cm C-shaped hairline crack. There are general surface scratches and enamel wear. Minor glaze firing imperfections.
