Description

  • carved nutwood with Aubusson tapestry
  • sofa 130cm; 4ft 3¾in. wide
upholstered with Aubusson tapestry, each rectangular back with an arched top rail and a reeded and foliate carved border, the padded armrests on downswept leaf-carved supports, the bow-fronted seat carved with rosettes above tapering fluted legs

Condition

In overall good conserved condition. All the joints to the chair backs are sturdy. With old marks and scratches throughout consistent with age and use. There are some old minor restorations and construction cracks where the arms meet the side rails which can be left as do not detract form the piece. Tapestry 18th century and later, in stable condition.
