Catalogue Note

The style of the painting on this cream pot can be compared to a teapot and two teabowls and saucers from the Said and Roswitha Marouf collection, published by Ulrich Pietsch in the collection catalogue, 2010, no.99-101, subsequently offered at Bonhams, The Marouf collection, part I, 5th December 2012, lot 21 and 22. The author suggests that such painting has been attributed to Johann Gottfried Mehlhorn. Mehlhorn, his father and brother are discussed by Rainer Rückert, Biographische Daten der Meißener Manufakturisten des 18. Jahrhunderts, 1990, p. 176-177.
