Description

  • bronze, giltbronze, marble
  • each 73cm. high; 2ft. 4¾in.
each with a standing neoclassical figure in drapery holding aloft a stylised cornucopia issuing four scrolled candlearms cast with acanthus and an eagle head with a further raised candle-nozzle on a white marble socle with beading and twisted ribbon on a square base

Condition

In overall good conserved condition. The marble bases are slightly darker in colour than in the catalogue and would benefit from cleaning as would the bronze figures. There are old marks, scratches and marks throughout consistent with age and use most notably to the marble bases. The figure on one is loose and needs securing. There is some minor rubbing to the drip pans and some very minor pitting and dents to the nozzles. The gilding is rubbed on the base of the cornucopia and there is sings of rubbing to the bronze figures. The circular gilt bronze socle beneath one figure needs adjusting to fit the base. One candle arm possibly re-soldered.
