Description

- 75cm high, 56cm. diameter; 2ft 5½in., 1ft 10in.
with an inset circular Egyptian porphyry top above a shaped frieze, the central stem issuing stylised trefoil motifs on four splayed legs headed by lion masks on block and bun feet; porphyry top restored
Condition
In overall good conserved condition with old marks, chips and scratches commensurate with age and use. There is a demi-lune shaped restoration to the porphyry top which has been well executed. There are minor water stains to the top which can be re-polished and some hairline cracks at the joints, the top also shows signs of scattered age cracks which are normal. The trefoils on the base are slightly loose and need re-pinning. Some very minor worm to the legs which appear to be no longer active. There are two sections of approx. 2 cm by 1 cm of veneer missing together with another small 1 cm section on one leg which can easily be restored. There is evidence of glue behind the lion masks.
