Description

  • gilt-bronze-mounted bronze and Egyptian porphyry
  • 70cm. high, 27cm. diameter; 2ft. 3½in., 10¾in.
with a porphyry bowl supported on a foliate cast stem with three addorsed neoclassical maidens on a concave-sided triform base mounted with a female mask in a roundel flanked by stylised foliage and anthemions with a patera on each corner 

Condition

In overall good condition. The colour overall slightly darker and more attractive than in the catalogue photograph. Very minor marks and chips to porphyry bowl with some watermarks inside. There is some minor wear to bronze figures with dark brown pattination and attractive detail. One rosette missing from base which can easily be recast. There is a screw hole to the top of the stem with no current purpose. One of the figures is not flush with the stem which may well be associated.
