with a rectangular bevelled plate the pierced cresting with a ribbon-tied foliate cartouche enclosing a neoclassical baluster urn draped with laurel swags flanked by trails of flowers, the moulded frame with projecting angles terminating in a scrolled apron hung with a ribbon-tied floral and foliate swag centred by acanthus and scrolls; gilding refreshed and worn in places

Condition

In overall good conserved condition. Old minor marks, chips and losses to the carving. The gilding is lacking especially on the cresting and apron and appears to have a green paint which can easily be restored. There is evidence of old restorations where there have been breaks to the carved section in the past which would benefit from some touching up and some hairline construction cracks at the joints but these can be left. There are some iron strengthens at the back and the plate has been rebacked.
