Description

  • A miniature gold, purpurine and heliotrope desk seal, French or Italian, circa 1845
  • gold, purpurine, bloodstone
  • 4.5cm., 1 3/4 in. high
surmounted by a chained monkey with begging bowl, on a purpurine support, the bloodstone matrix engraved with monogram, apparently OASE, below a continental untitled nobleman's coronet

Condition

Very fine chasing. Matrix probably a later replacement as mount slightly ragged but otherwise excellent condition throughout.
