Description

  • gilt-bronze, marble
  • 78cm. high, 95cm. diameter; 3ft. 1½in., 2ft. 6¾in.
with a veined white marble top centred by a grey marble roundel within a Sienna marble border and grey marble concentric rings within a gilt-bronze border on three concave supports surmounted by an eagle head each with a ring in its beak terminating in acanthus leaf cast paw feet and brass castors joined by a ring and concave-sided triform pierced stretcher

Condition

In overall good original condition. The marble top is slightly dirty and would benefit from a light clean according to taste. It also has some old minor marks, chips and scratches which are hardly noticeable and do not detract from the piece. The casting of the gilt-bronze is good with attractive detail to the eagles heads and feet. The gilding is rubbed in places as visible from the catalogue photograph. The gilt-bronze is a bit dirty and would benefit from a light clean according to taste,
