Description

  • gilt-bronze, mahogany, marble, ebony
  • 97cm. high, 70.5cm. diameter; 3ft. 2¼in., 2ft. 3¾in.
with two graduated circular tiers in veined white marble with pierced brass galleries, turned and brass fluted column to the upper part, hexagonal pedestal stem with ebony stringing on splayed tripod supports and castors

Condition

In overall good conserved condition. The marble on the top tier is slightly darker in colour than that on the second tier and is probably a later replacement but it is a good match. There is some minor rubbing to the gilding on the galleries which are very slightly warped in places and there is a slight gap between the gallery on the bottom tier and the gallery but this is hardly noticeable. there is also some surface dirt on the brass fluting on the columnar section. The support above the stem is possibly a replacement. The castors are probably later and there is a restored break to the scrolled foot of one leg which has been very well restored and hardly noticeable.
