Two Meissen large flower-encrusted pot pourri vases, covers and stands third quarter 19th century

Description

each of inverted pear form, painted on one side with a Watteauesque scene and on the other with a flower arrangement, all within a border of applied flowers and fruits, the shoulders set with twig handles, the foot of one applied with a cherub and the other with a maiden, the vases and stands with crossed swords marks in underglaze-blue, various incised and impressed numerals.

Condition

Some typical chips and losses to the applied flowers, leaves and insects. Both feet of the female figure at the base of the vase on the right in the catalogue illustration have been broken off and are missing. The right leg of the cherub at the base of the other vase has been broken off below the knee and reaffixed, and the toes of the foot are chipped. One stand has an approximate 1 1/4-in. chip to the upper edge and a 2 1/2-in. repaired chip to the same edge. One cover as a 1-in. chip to the rim edge.
