Catalogue Note
This interesting cabinet was originally one of a pair, its companion having recently been recorded on the New York art market. Veneered in richly figured mahogany, with plainer satinwood being used as the background to the painted decoration on the arched pediment, its elegant form is accentuated by the narrow recessed style. Possibly the same cabinet, or its pair, which was illustrated by the New York firm of Needhams Antiques in their catalogue, undated but circa 1960, p. 19.
