Catalogue Note
The pine used for this nearly life-size figure is the so-called cirmolo, or stone pine, which was one of the more commonly used woods in the northern regions of Italy for carving. The wood was lumbered in the Italian Alps and was used in great quantities throughout Alto-Adige and Veneto.
