- PARCEL-GILT, PAINTED, EBONIZED
- height 37 1/2 in.
- 95 cm
three with old paper inventory labels inscribed M Boas and numbered 3, 9 and 10.
Condition
Some sphinx tails replaced or restored. One back leg with a restored break and with a peg for stabilization. Other legs with minor restorations. One paw foot with a 1 inch loss. Chips to gesso and losses to decoration. Rubbing and wear throughout consistent with use and age. Backs of chairs with later painting to match carved decoration.
