Condition

The work holds very small spots of dirt and of foxing. Small old glue stains appear in the upper corners, and are visible on the visual in the catalogue. The lower left corner has been folded and has a mark. The drawing is a little bit dirty but in generally good condition. The picture in the catalogue is slightly whiter than the work really is.

Catalogue Note

Louis-Philippe, premier Comte de Paris (1838-1894), était le fils aîné de Ferdinand duc d'Orléans et de la princesse Hélène de Mecklembourg-Schwerin. A la mort de son père en 1842, il devint l'héritier du trône. En 1850, à la mort du roi Louis-Philippe, il devint chef de la Maison d'Orléans. En 1883, à la mort du comte de Chambord, dernier survivant de la branche aînée des Bourbon, il devint chef de la Maison de France. Sa fille Isabelle épousa le duc de Guise, fils du duc de Chartres, et donna naissance au deuxième Comte de Paris (1908-1999).
