Condition
Très bon état général. Le verre est extrêmement jauni et opacifié. Les couleurs de la miniature sont très vives et fraîches, la colle a légèrement débordé sur l'extrême bord gauche. Quelques marques de friction sur le bord droit en haut. Une très légère tache de moisisure sur son oeil droit.

Catalogue Note
Le modèle représenté était l’une des filles de Louis-Philippe, duc d’Orléans et de son épouse Marie-Adélaïde de Bourbon-Penthièvre. Son père fut guillotiné pendant la Révolution française et elle passa alors une partie de sa vie en exil, habitant successivement en Angleterre, aux Pays-Bas, en Suisse, en Allemagne, en Espagne et en Sicile. A la chute de Napoléon en 1814, elle revint à Paris avec son frère, le futur Louis-Philippe, roi des Français. Elle resta sa plus fidèle conseillère et ce jusqu’à son dernier souffle, en 1847. Deux mois après le décès de sa sœur, Louis-Philippe abdiqua le trône de France.
The sitter was born a daughter of Louis Philippe, duc d'Orléans and his wife, Louise Marie Adélaïde de Bourbon-Penthièvre. Her father was guillotined during the revolution and she spent much of her early life in exile, living in England, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, Spain and Sicily. After the fall of Napoleon in 1814 she returned to Paris with her brother, the future Louis Philippe, King of the French. She would remain his loyal advisor until her death in December 1847. Two months later, King Louis Philippe abdicated.
