Le modèle représenté n’est autre que le monarque français Henri IV de la branche des Bourbon. Il s’éleva d’abord comme Roi de Navarre, tout comme Henri III avant lui, de 1572 à 1610 et devint Roi du royaume de France en 1589, jusqu’à sa mort en 1610.
The sitter was the first French monarch of the House of Bourbon. He reigned as King of Navarre, as Henry III, from 1572 to 1610 and then as King of France, from 1589 until his death in 1610.
