Description

  • Eugène-Louis Lami
  • 27.5 x 22cm; 10 7/8 by 8 1/4 in

Condition

The watercolor is fresh and in good condition. Very small oxidation wears appear in the clouds in the upper part of the composition (this may have been the artist's intention). The matter is quite thin in the lower part. This is visible on the visual in the catalogue. The picture is slightly darker and pinker than the work really is.

Catalogue Note

The composition depicts the duc d'Orléans riding his horse, probably in the Tuileries gardens, with his joint staff standing in the back (see lot 180 for a similar composition).
